Brain Disrupted: The Neurological Impacts of Trauma - Coming soon!
About the Course
Unlike a broken arm or cut on your skin – we cannot see when our brains are injured or disrupted; yet as we know, this doesn’t mean it isn’t occurring. As clinicians and mental health professionals it is vital that we are aware of and understand the factors and circumstances that frequently impact the brain and its ability to function. The neurological impacts of pandemic-related-trauma, developmental trauma, stress, burnout, and substance use, among other factors, will be presented. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how, why, and in what ways traumatic experiences affect neurological, behavioral, cognitive, and emotional functioning. Recent research of Covid-19’s impacts to neurological functioning will be presented. Lastly, various treatment approaches for working with the traumatized brain will be discussed.
