Don't Judge a Brain by it's Cover: Understanding & Treating Co-Occurring Substance Use Disorders,
Brain Injury, and Mental Health Disorders - Coming Soon!

About the Course

Often we observe the actions, moods, words, and behaviors of our clients and utilize this information to draw conclusions on appropriate diagnoses and treatment methods. However, there is often a piece left unseen: brain injury - sometimes referred to as the “invisible injury”. Injuries to the brain are prevalent particularly in those with substance use disorder diagnoses, yet they often go undiagnosed, under-recognized, under-assessed, and are left untreated or mistreated. In this session we will discuss co-occurring brain injury and substance use disorder diagnoses, including assessment, symptoms, diagnosis, challenges faced in treatment, and the prevalence of other mental health diagnoses as well treatment tools, methods, and techniques.
